West Indies vs New Zealand, ICC Cricket World Cup 2019: Oshane Thomas' battle with Martin Guptill to watch for
Martin Guptill has a good record against West Indies and will be fancying his chances when the two teams meet during the CWC 2019
Martin Guptill, new Zealand's opener, will be up against his favourite team West Indies on Saturday in the second game of the day in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019. Guptill has amassed 588 runs in 12 games against West Indies and has had a good World Cup as well, scoring some quickfire runs to provide his side with crucial runs at the top of the order.
He will face a stiff challenge against Oshane Thomas, however, with short balls coming at him from the very first ball. That has been his stock ball and will serve him well against the opener who hates facing the balls that grow onto him after pitching.
However, Thomas has been guilty of bowling balls that are on a widish line, which allows the batters to free their arms. Given his pace as well, Guptill will be on the lookout for the balls that are pitched just outside the off-stump, so he can smash the bowler out of the park.
