West Indies vs New Zealand, ICC Cricket World Cup 2019: Match prediction
New Zealand might be the favourites for this CWC 2019 clash, but West Indies might just walk away with a win here
West Indies are just about surviving in the competition and will need to bring their best into this game when they face New Zealand on Saturday in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019. The side does have some of the biggest hitters in the game of cricket, with their bowling department being led by Oshane Thjomas and Sheldon Cottrell. However, they have failed to gel as a unit, and will be eager to get their campaign back on track.
They were on fire in their first World Cup game, against Pakistan, where they bounced out their rivals for only 105 runs. If the bowlers can pitch in with a similar performance here against the Black Caps, they will have a real chance of getting back to winning ways.
For New Zealand, though, their strategies don't need to vary - they are one of the two unbeaten teams in the edition and will have to stick to their plans. The pace trio of Trent Boult, Lockie Ferguson and Matt Henry will be aware that a wicket-to-wicket line and length will see them get rich rewards. Their batting is also superior, but counting out Windies will not be the wisest move.
A flat track is expected for this game, and if Chris Gayle can find his mojo, there will be no stopping him. He always plays a cracker of an innings in at least one game per tournament, and today might just be his day.
Hence, while the Kiwis are the favourites based on current form, the Windies might just pull off a win here.
