Victoria’s Secret Show gets CANCELLED for 2019 and here’s the reason why

Victoria’s Secret has been an iconic lingerie brand for as long as we can remember. Each year around this time, people around the world get excited about the annual Victoria’s Secret fashion show. Extravagant, colourful and full of life, the fashion shows each is bigger and better. With models aka ‘Angels’ dressed in glorious wings and skimpy lingerie. 

The extravaganza sees top models like Gigi Hadid, Karlie Kloss, Tyra Banks, Andriana Lima, Naomi Cambell and many more. Some models have also become famous post their debut at the VS fashion show. The annual event, launched in 1995, was a stroke of marketing genius.

But with perfect models aka the Angels setting the beauty standards too damn high, the company has been facing some issues. The year 2019 which could also be called an era of feminism has made people rethink the entire concept of flashy fashion shows like VS.

Model Shanina Shaik, confirmed the news, telling the Australian Daily Telegraph: “Unfortunately the Victoria’s Secret show won’t be happening this year” 

The show was put on hold because of a rebranding project, suggested Shaik.

Apparently they had to take the stand on this because, supermodel Former Victoria’s Secret Angel Karlie Kloss, stopped working with the brand and commented on the same saying, “I didn’t feel it was an image that was truly reflective of who I am and the kind of message I want to send to young women around the world about what it means to be beautiful.”

And then in November 2018, Ed Razek, the former chief marketing officer was forced to apologize after telling Vogue that he wouldn’t use transgender or plus-size models. He commented on the same saying, “Because the show is a fantasy.”
