Sri Lanka vs West Indies, ICC Cricket World Cup 2019: Lasith Malinga's battle with Chris Gayle to watch for
Lasith Malinga's yorkers can trouble Chris Gayle when Sri Lanka meet West Indies on Monday in the CWC 2019
Two experienced campaigners will face off against each other when Sri Lanka take on West Indies in the World Cup 2019. Lasith Malinga and Chris Gayle - two veterans playing their last World Cup - will be up against each other, and the battle between the duo will make for an enthralling contest.
Gayle, one of the biggest hitters in the game, has not had the best of campaigns with just two fifties to his name. With Windies already out of the tournament, he will bat with freedom, and will be looking to take apart an inconsistent batting attack.
Malinga, on the other hand, has had a good run, and was on fire against England as he picked up four wickets, which helped Sri Lanka spring a surprise upon the hosts. He executes his yorkers to perfection and believes in cramping up the batters up for room, and will be looking to do just that against Gayle as well.
The big-hitter struggles against just that. Against India, Gayle was cramped up for room by Mohammad Shami's tight bowling, and he eventually lost his wicket to him. The left-hander prefers some width on the ball, but if the Sri Lankan can manage to keep things tight, Gayle, in an attempt to loft the ball, can get dismissed.
