Actor Jayaram is expected to star in the film Ponniyin Selvan. Mani Ratnam will be jointly making this film with Lyca Productions.
Mani Ratnam will be jointly making the film called Ponniyin Selvan with Lyca Productions, which was the name behind the country's most expensive films. The film is back in the news as actor Jayaram is expected to star in the film. The makers of the film have already announced the casting of actor like Vikram, Parthiban and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. There is no official statement about actor Jayaram joining this film, but if reports are to be then the makers of Ponniyin Selvan are expected to make an announcement very soon.
This film will see Jayaram and Mani Ratnam working together for the very first time. The film Ponniyin Selvan will showcase the story of the fight for power in the Chola empire. The film is based on the Kalki Krishnamurthy's novel. Many Tamil filmmakers had made attempts to translate the story of Ponniyin Selvan for the big screen, finally it was filmmaker Mani Ratnam who will be making a film based on the novel. From a literary point of view, Ponniyin Selvan is considered as a very fine work, and the fans are very excited as they will get to see the story on the big screen.
As per reports, Mani Ratnam had plans of casting Vijay and Mahesh Babu for the film, but that did not work out as there was a budget issue. This film will bring actors Vikram and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan together for a Mani Ratnam film. The trio had previously done Raavanan together which released in the year 2010. This film was showcased a new modern take on Mahabharata.
