Veteran pacer Lasith Malinga produced a memorable spell of fast bowling as Sri Lanka stunned hosts England by 20 runs in the sixth game of their respective World Cup campaigns at Headingley, Leeds on 21st June. He finished with outstanding figures of 4/43 off his 10 overs and ensured that England were not able to reach the modest total of 233.

A shirtless picture of Lasith Malinga was doing the rounds on social media for all the wrong reasons just before Sri Lanka's encounter against the hosts. Former Sri Lankan skipper Mahela Jayawardene used the same viral picture of Lasith Malinga to congratulate him on his match-winning spell against England. The Sri Lankan batting stalwart took to Instagram to share the viral picture of Lasith Malinga to heap praise on his performance, while many trolled him for his unfit body. He captioned the image as, "Well bowled Mali!!! Thought I would share the most talked about picture last week for all your fans"

Earlier, the same pic was doing the rounds on Twitter and many users trolled him for his pot belly. Here we have a look as to how they reacted to it

Electing to bat first, Sri Lanka never had enough runs on the board. It was their veteran pacer Lasith Malinga who bowled one of his finest spells in World Cup cricket to ensure Sri Lanka's second win of the competition. Opening the bowling, he gave the needed impetus to their bowling by dismissing Jonny Bairstow for a golden duck in the second ball of the innings. After a few good overs, he had fellow opener James Vince caught at second slip.

Later, Malinga came on to dismiss Joe Root and Jos Buttler to leave England in a spot of bother with the scoreboard reading 144 for 5. In the end, when Ben Stokes was running away with the game, it was Nuwan Pradeep's tidy spell which helped Sri Lanka pull of a memorable victory.

Up next, Sri Lanka take on a depleted South African side at Riverside Ground, Chester-le-Street on June 28th.
