Team India's skipper Virat Kohli is one of the most exciting batsmen of the current generation. He is currently on a mission to conquer every batting record possible. Till date he has represented Team India in 229 ODIs, scoring 10943 runs at an average of 59.47 including 50 half centuries and 41 centuries.

His staggering numbers are a testament to both his hard work and passion towards the game. He is currently holding Team India's top and middle order at number three and his contributions have proven to be invaluable towards his team's success.

Here we have a look at some of the records that he might break in this edition of the World Cup:

1. 11000 ODI runs:

Virat Kohli is 57 runs shy of 11000 ODI runs. If he reaches this magic number, he would be the ninth player ever and third Indian batsmen after Sachin Tendulkar and Sourav Ganguly to score 11000 runs in ODIs. The little master holds the record for being the quickest to reach the milestone in 276 innings. Kohli has played 221 innings so far.

2. Most runs in a single edition of World Cup:

Team India's legend Sachin Tendulkar currently holds the record for scoring the most runs in a single edition of the World Cup. He scored 673 runs from 11 innings in the 2003 edition which was jointly hosted by South Africa, Kenya and Zimbabwe. He scored those 673 runs at an average of 61.18 including 6 fifties and a century.

3. 1000 runs for Team India in World Cup cricket:

Virat Kohli has amassed 687 runs from 19 World Cup games at an average of 42.93 including two half centuries and two centuries. With the current edition being played in a round-robin format, he might reach 1000 runs for Team India in World Cups. If he does so, he would be the third Indian batsmen after Sachin Tendulkar and Sourav Ganguly to achieve this feat.
