India vs Pakistan, World Cup 2019: India beat Pakistan by 89 runs to make it 7-0
India defeated Pakistan quite comfortably by 89 runs at Old Trafford to make it 7-0 in World Cup. Rohit Sharma scored a fabulous 100 while bowlers also played a part in the win
An all-round display on Sunday saw India defeating arch-rivals Pakistan quite easily in the match 22 of ongoing World Cup 2019. The Men in Blue after a formidable batting performance bowled exceptionally well to post an 89-run win in the rain-hit encounter to make it 7-0 against Pakistan in the World Cup history.
Earlier, Sarfaraz Ahmed won the toss and opted to bowl first, considering the overcast conditions in Machester. The Men in Green, however, didn’t find a good start as Rohit Sharma and Kl Rahul started strongly for India. The duo showed resistance in the begining and later freed their arms to form a mega stand of 136 runs.
After Rahul’s dismissal, Rohit Sharma continued his sublime touch, scoring a scintillating knock of 140 runs. Later, Virat Kohli gave the finishing touch to the innings, leading India to 336 runs total. For Pakistan, Mohammad Amir was the star with the ball as the fast-bowled picked a three-wicket-haul.
In reply, Pakistan lost an early wicket though Fakhar Zaman and Babar Azam led the recovery, forming 104 runs partnership. Kuldeep Yadav, however, bowled extremely well to leave Men in Green in tatters as he removed both of them.
Hardik Pandya followed and picked another two wickets before it started raining at Old Trafford. Lastly, when the covers came off, Pakistan needed 136 runs in 5 overs as of the Duckworth Lewis method. They finished up on 212 runs, awarding India 89 runs win.
