Days after it was confirmed that Venom 2 is happening and Tom Hardy is returning to reprise his role, reports about the film's director is making the headlines. It has been reported that Andy Serkis is one of the front runners for the directorial duties.
Venom 2 will have an Avengers connection after all. Sony had confirmed that Venom will return. The comic book character made a debut in the cinematic universe last year. Tom Hardy went under the skin of the symbiotic alien to bring the character to the big screen. The movie did not impress the critics but it drew fans to the theatres. After the success of Venom, the makers announced that Venom 2 was in the making and Hardy will reprise his role in the franchise.
A new update now reveals that the makers are narrowing down on finalising the director for the Venom sequel. Reports are doing the rounds that Avengers: Age of Ultron and Black Panther villain Andy Serkis is being considered for the helm. The Hollywood Reporter reported that the Breathe director is one of the front runners for the directorial duties. The international publication wrote, "Serkis flew to Los Angeles for meetings set by Sony brass earlier this week."
Meanwhile, Variety reports that he's not the sole director in consideration. As per the report, Bumblebee director Travis Knight and Rise of the Planet of the Apes director Rupert Wyatt are also being considered for the role of the director. It is to see which director is roped in. Meanwhile, Sony is riding on the success of Spider-Man: Far From Home. The movie has performed well at the domestic and international market. The movie has officially surpassed the $1 billion mark at the worldwide front. The production house would be keen on keeping the winning streak going.
