England vs Sri Lanka, ICC Cricket World Cup 2019: Eoin Morgan's battle with Lasith Malinga to watch out for
Lasith Malinga has been a deadly bowler but will find it hard against the might of Morgan in the ICC World Cup 2019 clash between England and Sri Lanka on Friday.
In what was a stellar display of power-hitting, England skipper Eoin Morgan sent Afghanistan bowlers into despair as he smashed 148 runs with 17 sixes in his epic knock against the minnows in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 earlier this week. That knock also displayed why he is so widely regarded in the world of cricket, and the Lankans will be wary of him when they face each other on Friday.
The one bowler who, Sri Lanka will be looking at to trouble Morgan, is Lasith Malinga. The yorker specialist has not had the best of events and has also not fared well when bowling to Morgan. Dismissing him just 3 times in 18 games, it is the English skipper who holds the upper hand in this clash, and it will be up to Malinga to bring his 'A' game.
However, the Lankan has waned when it comes to bowling yorkers consistently. He has been focusing more on bowling the slower deliveries, which will allow Morgan to smash him for runs. Instead, Malinga should focus on bowling a nagging line and length that will allow the English skipper to get cramped up for room. He will have to attack Morgan's pads, which has been the Irishman's nemesis in the recent past.
