Going by what we could see happening in ‘Jodha-Akbar’, it looks like Jalal is getting away from Jodha and losing touch with his human side.

He is not the kind-hearted, loving and wise emperor anymore.

Or may be, it is Jalal’s one of tricks to unearth the enemies hiding under his shelter to stab him behind his back? Well, who knows?

But all we can see now is Jalal getting too close for comfort with Atifa. Recently, Khaibar breaks open from the jail and follows a secret cave that links to Jodha’s chamber. He lands at Jodha’s room and starts admiring her while sitting by her side. The Rajput princess, who was in deep sleep, did not come to know about Khaibar’s presence until Sharifuddin catches hold of the human beast.

Sharif raises an alarm immediately and the troops surround Khaibar to catch hold of him. Jodha too wakes up and gets puzzled to see the mess in her room. Khaibar is about to kill Sharif, but when Jodha insists, he spares his target’s life.

However, Sharifuddin vows to report this matter to Jalal.

On the other hand, Jalal’s loyal courtier, Atgah, who knows what’s going on between Jalal and Atifa, hints to Jodha that the emperor is a changed man now as he is being misled.

When Jalal returns from his hunting trip with Atifa, he comes to know of Khaibar’s crime. An angry Jalal gives public assassination orders for Khaibar much against Jodha’s plea. This rejection hurts Jodha and she thinks Jalal does not love her anymore.

A huge crowd gathers to watch Khaibar’s death. Jalal declares that he will punish Khaibar for daring to enter his wife’s chamber and his death will be an example for other sinful men. He also mentions that he knows there is someone from his own court behind the wrongs happening to him.

When the orders for Khaibar’s death are given by Jalal, Jodha intervenes and reminds him of the promise he gave to her in the past for granting her wishes.

Jalal helplessly agrees to Jodha’s plea and grants life to Khaibar at her behest. However, he makes Jodha feel that he is displeased with her attempt to save Khaibar from his ire.
