Veteran actor Om Puri passed away today morning at the age of 66. He suffered a cardiac arrest at his home in Mumbai. 

The versatile and National Award winning actor was part of several TV shows, Bollywood films, and crossover ventures. 

In the late 70s and 80s, Om Puri redefined the art house cinema with films like Ardh Satya, Mirch Masala, and Aakrosh. He enacted in many international projects like Gandhi, City of Joy and Wolf

Apart from films, Om Puri also contributed to television and was a part of many iconic shows.  Here are the powerhouse performer's top 5 shows which will be remembered forever.

Tamas 

This Govind Nihalani's TV film won the actor critical acclaim and made him a household name. 

Bharat Ek Khoj

A 53-episode Indian historical drama was based on the book The Discovery of India by Jawaharlal Nehru. Om Puri hosted the show which was directed by ace director Shyam Benegal.

Kakkaji Kahin 

A parody on politics, this serial saw Om Puri as a pan-chewing 'Kakaji.' 

Jasoos Vijay

With help of this series, he spread awareness about HIV/AIDS among the masses in India. At the end of each episode, he would address the issue by visiting rural areas and talking to common people.

Mr. Yogi

Seen in the role of a 'Sutradhar' who narrates the story, Mr. Yogi showcased Om Puri's versatility as a comic actor. 

Notably, Om Puri also enacted in few episodes of TV horror show Aahat. He was also seen in Sea Hawks, Antaral and the crime show Savdhaan India (season II). Along with this, he was also a part of British TV series, The Jewel in the Crown. He recently lent his voiceover in Ekta Kapoor's historical drama, Jodha Akbar.

Om Puri's loss has been tremendous for the industry, leaving behind a void which will be hard to fill, in years to come...
