Karan Oberoi comes out clean in rape case; Says, 'I strongly feel for #MenToo; I am a strong advocate for it'
Karan Oberoi also said how his mother and father are really in bad shape. He said, "The fact that their son who has never broken a traffic law and never spoken rudely to anyone was facing this, was very heartbreaking for them."
Karan Oberoi has been in the news of late as he was arrested after a woman accused him of rape. But now, he has come out clean as the allegation has been proven to be fabricated and woman who levied the charges of rape is now arrested as she faked the same. In an interview with IWM BUZZ, Karan opened on the all the ordeals and horrors of jail and how there is a need for #MenToo.
When asked about the trauma he faced, Karan said, "It has certainly been very tough. It has been quite an ordeal task in the last one and half months for me. But this is how it is. This is a shocking reflection of the time we live in. And this brings to notice the overwhelming need for a #MenToo. The entire system needs an overhaul. The system should be so strong that it should ensure that nobody else falls into this trap. I will be the voice for others and see to it that no other human, male nor female suffers."
When asked about the female who had accused him, he revealed that he had earlier met and interacted with her, but never knew that he would face this outcome. He also added that he will not generalize as it is the mindset of that one person. He said there are few who create shortcuts to loot meant by misusing the law.
When asked what exactly is the true story, he said, "We were friendly with each other. And if you have closely followed the case, you will very well know that the judge admonished the shoddy way in which the investigation was held. He openly said that the guy should not have been in the jail in the first place. Well, my incident is like a case study for others. It has become a focal point and I hope no other man goes through such an ordeal. I do not mind being the sacrificial lamb and hope nothing of this sort happens to anyone else."

He also talked about his rich legacy of his family as many of his ancestors were soldiers and veterans of war and that's why the accusation shattered them more. He also spoke at length on the need of #MenToo. He said he is the strong advocate for it, and now, he wants to be the voice of people and make sure that the laws are amended and said how there should be gender equality.
