After Sarabhai vs Sarabhai, Hum Paanch to return with 3rd season
The iconic sitcom, Hum Paanch will be back with Season 3.
Ekta Kapoor is known for some of the most iconic saas-bahu serials on Indian television which comprises of famous shows like Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi and Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii. But, back in 1995, Ekta gave us an iconic sitcom that is remembered and rewatched even to this day. The show we are talking about is none other than Hum Paanch.
The show had a simple storyline with amazing humour and sarcastic wit that kept the audience glued to their television screens. The show starred the likes of Ashok Saraf (Anand Mathur), Priya Tendulkar (Anand's first wife), Shoma Anand (Bina Mathur), Vidya Balan (Radhika Mathur), Rakhee Tandon (Sweety Mathur), Bhairavi Raichura (Kajal Mathur), Vandana Pathak (Meenakshi Mathur) and Priyanka Mehra (Chhoti) amongst others. The show made overnight stars out of all these actors and the sitcom is considered as one of the best comedies in Indian TV history.
The first season ended by 1999 and a second season came about in 2005 which ran till mid-2006.
Well now, there is some amazing news for all the die-hard Hum Paanch fans as the iconic show is going to be back for a third season, according to a leading daily. The third season will be titled Hum Paanch Phir Se and it will feature a new cast.
However, unlike the last two seasons, Ekta Kapoor will not be producing the show. Instead, the show will be produced by Essel Vision Productions (Makers of shows like Maharakshak Devi and Dance India Dance).
A source informed the daily, "We will retain all the intrinsic elements and the format, but will give it a modern spin. The production house is in the process of finalising the cast, which will comprise new faces."
