Nahid Afrin, who participated in the famous reality TV show Indian Idol, made headlines after 46 Muslim clerics issued a fatwa against her. But, she is not putting her feet down and is all ready to fight it against them and it seems that all the threats are not pinning her down.

Yesterday, Nahid said, "Was shocked and broken from inside at first, but many Muslim singers gave me inspiration to not quit music, will never do so. "My singing is a gift of God. I believe it must be properly utilised, not doing so is ignoring God."

Post the reports of threats to Afrin, Assam's Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal in a statement said, "Such a ruling against practising art and culture is unacceptable and is tantamount to infringement of one’s freedom of cultural rights."

He also added that he called Nahid and assured her of her security. Sonowal said, "The whole nation supports Nahid Afrin and we will ensure full security is given to her."

The Muslim cleric's have termed all forms of entertainment, like singing and dancing, as against Shariat laws and asked Nahid to avoid it. The leaflet which was printed in Assamese said, “Magic, dance, drama, theatre, etc are against Sharia laws. Events like musical shows are against Sharia, law and future generations will be corrupted by it.”

"If anti-Sharia acts like musical nights are held on grounds surrounded by masjids, idgahs, madrassas and graveyards, our future generations will attract the wrath of Allah," the pamphlets read.

Meanwhile, Assam police are still investigating the matter.
