London Fashion Week: Vivienne Westwood starts off the fashion week with a massive political protest
Vivienne Westwood, makes a political statement through her showcase, at the London Fashion Week 2018
The London Fashion Week has only begun and has already got political. Vivienne Westwood the original punk Queen showcased her show on the streets of the British capital. Men and women donned all black with anti-fracking statements all over it. The designer along with her models and activists walked through the streets in this amplified politically driven fashion show; creating quite a statement.
The show was a direct jibe and attack at the chemical company, Ineos who uses various fracking techniques to extract oil and gas, hence, harming the nature. Words like, “Fracking, Ineos, Chaos” were featured on the garments. Moreover, the protests were held right outside the Ineos headquarters and have become a rage on Twitter with the hashtag, #IneosVThePeople.

Westwood has always been quite a rebellion and in a statement to an online website in 2014, she had said that she intended to focus on climate change and will be concentrating on “quality and not quantity.”
The New York Fashion Week had witnessed some really powerful socio-political messages. With Vivienne Westwood starting off London Fashion Week on such a thunderous note and Christopher Bailey following the pattern by dedicating his final collection to the LGBTQ community lets see what else follows.
