The London Fashion Week is underway and clearly, the highlight of it was Christopher Bailey’s last show as the Creative Chief Officer for Burberry. The designer stepped down from his position after working with them for 17 glorious years. The powerhouse of talent had already mentioned that his last runway showcase will be covered in a rainbow and will be a special tribute to the LGBTQ community.

Adwoa Aboah opened the show for the British giant fashion brand wearing a white silk shirt with rainbow stripes over it. The show ended with supermodel Cara Delevingne walking down the runway wearing a white outfit and an oversized faux fur rainbow coat. The ambience of the show set the mood with the lights dimmed so that the focus stays on the rainbow-hued garments. The show was flagged off with “Memories” by Bronski Beat and ended with “Don't leave me this way” by Communards.

Burberry showcased a variety of fashion pieces. From classics  like the trench coats and silk evening dresses to the much raging street style trend like, shell suits and plastic visors made an appearance on the runway. Puffer jackets, blanket capes, all, were covered under the rainbow effect.

After his show, Bailey said, “Fashion needs context. There are so many questions being asked in the world now: about our values, about the way we live, the way we consume. I wanted us as a big organisation to make a stand for something. It is a way for me to try and make some sense of all this chaos.”

Phoebe Philo and Kim Jones are potential creative successors to Christopher Bailey at Burberry.
