Cannes 2017: How Sonam Kapoor has nailed the fashion game over the last 6 years

Sonam Kapoor is the ultimate fashionista in B-Town and takes her style quite seriously! An absolute pro at the whole red-carpet game, she can make just about anything look like high fashion. Throw in Rhea Kapoor, the actresses' sister and stylist, and bam! we have a killer knockout combination. Rhea's choices for Sonam are always on point and both their sensibilities together, are what gives us fuel and fashion inspiration for days ahead. 

Coming to The Cannes Film Festival, Sonam started off her stylish affair with the event back in 2011 and needless to say, her distinct style has always made waves and secured good press. Her elegant ways and natural elan is what sets Sonam apart from the rest and hence today, we decided to do a throwback to some of her most memorable looks at Cannes. 

2011

Starting off with her grand debut in 2011, Sonam managed to create quite the stir in a white Jean Paul Gaultier gown with Ferragamo shoes. She chose to go with an elegant updo, gold and black smokey eyes and a nude lip shade. 

2012

2012 had the diva step onto the red carpet in a gothic high-necked Alexander McQueen gown with bold eyebrows, red lips, and a center-parted hairdo. Edgy, sexy and oh-so-stunning! 

2013 

Bringing 'desiness' to the Cannes Film Festival, Sonam Kapoor made us proud in an embellished long jacket over a stunning lace saree. She kept it traditional and classic with winged eyeliner, bright red lips and a beautiful over-sized nose ring. 

2014 

This year had Sonam repeat the saree and keep it classy and traditional. She sported a baby pink caped Anamika Khanna saree, black smokey eyes, nude lips and sleek, straight hair. A statement choker against the sheer fabric looked breathtaking and made for some jaw-droppingly lovely pictures! 

2015 

Though Sonam's first look (the infamous feathered dress) didn't go down too well with the fashion enthusiasts, she made it up on day two, in a royal dramatic blue Ralph and Russo gown with side-swept hair and red lips. 

2016 

Coming to 2016, Sonam was seen in yet another Ralph and Russo, with a short train and a floral netted long cape. A pair of diamond earrings, a floral diamond neck piece by Bvlgari and a neat bun along with pink blush, eye shadow and nude lips rounded off the chicness. 

2017 

Finally, let's talk about 2017! Sonam Kapoor has outdone herself this year and you can clearly see why. Her unusual, bold choice of ensemble for Cannes 2017 has become the talk of the town and it hasn't even been 24 hours! A few hours ago, the fashionista was seen wearing a pair of mustard yellow, wide-legged pants that have desi embroidery all over it. The pants were paired with a bralette-style blouse, flaunting her toned tummy. The coordinates are paired with a red cape, giving the outfit it's oomph and drama. The dangling earrings and nothing else were the perfect addition to this outfit. Her hair, worn in a red headscarf gave the look an out and out boho feel. 

Well, you know the saying - You can love her, you can hate her, but you just can't ignore her? That stands truest when we're talking about Sonam. The fun girl with an impeccable sartorial sense has made us proud time and time again, and we can't wait to see just how much more she can inspire us. More power to you, girl!
