English Skipper, Eoin Morgan's team finished third in the points table. He says that the team is relieved to play their semi-finals at Edgbaston, which is one of their favourite stadiums in the tournament. England has won their previous 10 matches at the venue in all forms of the game. He said that it is a place that they as a team really like playing at.

Eoin Morgan said, “If we had a choice of where we would play our group-stage games, Edgbaston, the Oval and Trent Bridge would probably be the three grounds where we would have played the nine games.” He also mentioned that it is very comforting to play on one of those three grounds for the semi-finals.

After a humiliating loss against the defending champions, Australia by 64 runs, the hosts registered a victory in their next two matches (against India and New Zealand) which helped them to claim a spot in the semi-finals. Morgan said that the team sticks to their mantra which helped them reach the semi-finals of the tournament. He was quoted as saying, “We do stick to our mantra the whole time and not actually be cagey, or desperate, or anything in those sort of regards.”

England faced their three defeats in the tournament by batting second and Morgan admitted that he thought that the toss will be a deciding factor in the tournament. However, he also thought that it would be the other way round. “I thought the ball might have swung a bit more if conditions were cloudy and there was a bit of rain around and everybody would have bowled first and chased,” he added.
