Bangladesh vs Pakistan, ICC Cricket World Cup 2019: Match prediction
Bangladesh will be eager to end on a high after a good World Cup 2019
It will be a battle of two teams who have tried hard but faltered at crucial junctures in the World Cup 2019, when Bangladesh and Pakistan face each other at Lord's. While the Tigers are officially ruled out of the semis race, Pakistan have to win the game by 300+ runs, something that has never happened before in ODI cricket. Despite Sarfaraz Ahmed stating that the side will look to make 500+ runs, the odds are heavily stacked against them, and realistically, Pakistan can be ruled out of the edition as well.
The game, however, is likely to be keenly fought, irrespective of whether Pakistan qualify or not. The team is on a three-match winning streak and will be eager to bow out on a high after they were criticized heavily for their loss to India. In Babar Azam and Haris Sohail, Pakistan has two in-form batters, but the inability of the others to step up and rally around them consistently will work in Bangladesh's favour.
Though Pakistan's openers have done well in patches, they have struggled against genuine pace, and if Saifuddin and Mustafizur Rahman can bowl at their best, the woes will be increased further. Pakistan's middle order has not had the best run as well, and could struggle against the spin of Shakib and Mehidy Hasan.
Bangladesh, on the other hand, have done well against the pace bowlers of Australia and England, with Mushfiqur Rahim and Shakib leading the charge, and they will be confident to take on Mohammad Amir and Shaheen Afridi. Pakistan's unpredictability, and Bangladesh's new-found confidence after a good showing in the World Cup ensures that they are the slight favourites.
