Prince William and Kate Middleton faced a flight scare in Pakistan on day four of their royal tour. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were visiting Lahore on Thursday as they spent time with terminally ill children at a cancer hospital. Kate and William also played a game of cricket as they met sportsperson's before eventually returning to Islamabad. However, their flight was forced to abort a landing in Islamabad twice after getting caught in a severe thunderstorm. According to CNN, a British Royal Air Force plane carrying Kate, William and around 40 members of the media, were on the converted RAF Voyager after a day of engagements in Lahore when they found themselves caught up in a severe thunderstorm.
The report revealed that the Airbus A330 was in the air for almost two hours, a journey which would have otherwise taken around 26 minutes. The first attempt to land was aborted after massive turbulence amid thunderstorms. The pilot then attempted to land the flight at another airport in Islamabad, but the turbulence did not allow them to descend. Eventually, they returned to Lahore.
Post the flight scare, William also came back to check on the journalists and said that he and Kate were 'fine'. The royal Pakistan tour focused on Britain and Pakistan's relationship. The Duke and Duchess' engagements over the last few days will come to an end today as they will return home.
