Mabhabharat: Of Karna's guilt trip and Vidur's secret counseling
December 27, 2013 Episode
Sensing Duryodhan's evil mind at work, Vidur gets a spy to be his eyes and ears, and follow Karna till he manages to obtain vital clues on what the Kauravas are up to.
Meanwhile, a conscience stricken Karna visits his foster parents to seek peace of mind. His father reads his mind and chides him for siding with the unrighteous Duryodhan. Karna defends the choice he has made by saying that he can't leave Duryodhan. His father asks him the cause of his worry, to which, Karna answers that he can't tell what the reason is since he is bound by Duryodhan's promise. Karna seeks his father's advice to quench the fire of guilt he is surrounded with.
Karna's father counsels him by showing the way of Daan (charity) to seek mental peace.
On the other hand, the Pandavas reach Vaarnavrata with their mother Kunti, and are welcomed by Purochan and his wife. They are astonished to see why the palace has been built far away from the main town. Purochan tries dismissing their doubts by saying that there wasn't any land available to build a large palace for the Kuru princes.
Kunti asks Purochan to light an oil lamp on the main door of the palace before stepping in. He reluctantly agrees to her wish.
As Kunti, Yudhistir, Bheem and Nakul look at Laakshagraha admiringly, Sahdev checks out the palace with a skeptical mind.
Purochan praises the palace and says that it is an architectural wonder. He explains to everyone that the palace has been constructed in such a fashion that the mirrors placed in the palace will reflect moonlight light, thereby illuminating every corner of the royal residence.
Sahadev contradicts Purochan's reply by asking him how the palace will be lit up on Amavasya (no moon) night. Purochan fumbles while answering Sahdav's question. Yudhistir agrees with Sahdev and express the same concern. But Bheema interrupts and requests everyone to check out the rooms in the palace.
After Kunti and the Pandavas retire to their chambers, Purochan mistakenly drops the holy lamp he had lit on Kunti's request. The floor catches fire and Purochan tries his best to douse the fire.
He is about to get caught by Kunti but gets saved by sheer good luck.
The scene moves to Hastinapur, where the spy tells Vidur about Karna's conversation with his father. Vidur realises Kunti and her sons are in danger and rushes towards discussing the issue with Pitamah Bheeshma.
Monday's episode will show a worried Bheeshma rushing towards salvaging the lives of Kunti and the Pandavas in Vaarnavrata.
