Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah producer Asit Kumar Modi got in touch with Harold & Kumar star Kal Penn recently after the actor tweeted a video as Ladies Bhai. Here’s what Taarak Mehta producer had to say about this recent development.
One of the most loved and longest running shows on Indian television is Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah which features the story of the residents of Gokuldham society in Mumbai. The show has entertained everyone for a very long time and has been in the news recently after Disha Vakani refused to return as Dayaben. The story of Taarak Mehta, Jethalala, Bhide, Popat and more has been making everyone laugh, cry and enjoy for a long time and in a bizarre twist now, the makers got in touch with Hollywood star Kal Penn of Harold & Kumar fame for a cameo.
Kal Penn aka Kalpen Suresh Modi, who is the star of the film Harold & Kumar, recently tweeted a video of himself acting as Ladies Bhai. In the video, Kal can be seen dressed as a typical Gujarati guy who is into ladies and is flaunting his casanova image. After tweeting the video, many netizens tweeted and asked him to be a part of the Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah. On seeing the response, Kal replied, “You joke but this has legit been a goal. Cc: @TMKOC_NTF”
Well, this tweet got the attention of Asit Kumar Modi, the producer of TMKOC. Asit wrote to Kal, “Kalpen bhai! Great to hear from you, I already have an empty flat beside Jethalal's in Gokuldham so you're always welcome.” In an interview with Mid-Day, Asit Kumar Modi later confirmed that he got in touch with Kal Penn and messaged him on Twitter that they are happy to have him on the show, even if it is for a few episodes. He even mentioned that Kal’s character Ladies Bhai would fit perfectly into the Gokuldham family. Asit told Mid-Day, “I will be happy to have him on board, even if it's for a few episodes. I have asked him to DM [direct message] his contact number to me. I will take it forward from there.”
