The reality shows in India have a special charm for the audiences. These reality shows are a complete package with entertainment, excitement, comedy, competition and emotions. The performances and competition provide an adrenaline rush to the audience who are hooked to their seats, waiting for the next episode. But the culture of reality shows is not too old in India, hence we present to you 5 reality series that brought reality shows to the limelight in India:  

Sansui Antakshari – The show was released in the year 1993 and it was the first singing reality TV show in India. It was aired on Zee TV and the host was famous actor Annu Kapoor. It was a huge hit among the audience and was aired till 2006.

Sa Re Ga Ma Pa - It was also a singing reality show which was released on the year 1995. The show was hosted by Sonu Nigam. It was India’s first original reality show and was highly popular. It gave a platform to singers like Shreya Ghoshal, Kunal Ganjawala, Shekhar Ravjiani, Raja Hassan and others.

Boogie Woogie - It was the first Indian dance reality show launched in 1996 and it was an instant hit among the audiences. It was a kids dance show created by Naved Jafri and hosted by a famous actor as well as comedian Jaaved Jaaferi.

Kaun Banega Crorepati - The one-of-a-kind reality was aired in 2000 with the host and biggest superstar of India Amitabh Bachchan. The show was an instant hit and has a huge fan following. Numerous celebrities have made guest appearances on the show.

Indian Idol- It is a singing reality and the Indian version of the popular show American Idol. The show is very popular and immensely loved even now. Some of the famous contestants of the show are Neha Kakkar, Amit Tandon, Rahul Vaidya, Monali Thakur, Meiyang Chang, Sreerama Chandra Mynampati, among others.
