TV actors Gagan Kang and Arjit Lawania dead in a car accident.
Mahakali: Auth Hi Aarambh Hai actors Gagan Kang and Arjit Lawania were today killed in a road accident near Manor in Palghar.
The two were reportedly heading to Mumbai after shooting in Umergain when the accident took place.
A source close to the actors informed a leading daily that the two actors left the shooting location at around 8:30 PM and were travelling back to Mumbai in a trolley car. At 11:15 in the morning, the car apparently lost control and crashed into a rear end of a stationery trailer parked alongside the road.
While Gagan was seen essaying the role of God Indra, Arjit essayed the character of Nandi on the mythological saga.
A leading daily quoted eyewitnesses say that the impact of the crash was such that the car roof smashed into the trailer before turning reverse. The victims apparently died on the sport.
Swastik Productions founder and creative director Siddharth Kumar Tewary reacted to this shocking news and in a statement said, "We are shocked and saddened by the tragic news. I dont think we will ever come to terms with this tragedy ...Our hearts go out to the families and we stand with them. Both Arijit and Gagan were good actors and extremely sincere towards their craft. May their souls R.I.P."
The Police told a leading daily that the driver of the trailer was detained but it was found that the trailer was correctly parked on the siding of the road, however, Kang was found dead in the driver's seat. Also, Police recovered beer cans and snacks from the front and rear seats. According to police, the driver was over speeding as per the indications displayed on the car and have not ruled out the possibility of drunken driving.
The police now await the autopsy report to determine if the driver was drunk. In the meanwhile, they have registered a case of accidental death.
