EXCLUSIVE: Rochelle Rao: We need to change how body goals are portrayed; young girls today are putting up makeup at 13 that I wouldn't even wear at 28
Rochelle Rao explains why it is more important for women and celebrities to speak up on body shaming.
Actress and anchor Rochelle Rao has become a well-known face on Television. Rochelle who got engaged to Keith Sequeira earlier this year was also a former Miss India contestant.
Apart from making us go weak on our knees with her Instagram posts, Rochelle also doesn't mince her words when it comes to calling out trolls and body-shamers.
She recently posted a moving post on Instagram asking young women to not fall prey to the preconceived notions related to body type and instead love their body the way it is.
When we got in touch with Rochelle over this, the beautiful actor told us that she feels it is very important for celebrities especially to speak on such issues. "Yes, it is very very important for us women to talk about body shaming. As a celebrity, we have an added responsibility because our voice is actually heard more than an average person voice. It is easier to make money and not care about what happens to society but at the end, it is our own kids that are going to grow up in this world," she said.
She further added, "I think there are young girls who are putting up makeup at 13 that I wouldn't even wear at 28."
Emphasizing on why it is necessary for us to change the way we look at body type, she said, "We do have to change the way they portray body goals. Fashion and makeup is fun but that is not something young girls should get enslave to."
She further added, "I think we have various types of the body in India- be it South Indian or North Indian or whatever, they are all beautiful."
