"Jay Soni was the original choice for Dhhai Kilo Prem and not Meherzan Mazad", reveals Producer Sandiip Sikand

Star Plus' latest heavy offering in its afternoon slot, titled Dhhai Kilo Prem has been garnering great reviews from audiences. The protagonist Meherzan Mazad has struck the right chord with the audience.
But did you know, the male lead, Meherzan Mazad was not the original choice for the role. Producer Sandiip Sikcand revealed that Meherzan was actual his second option for the role. Sandiip said, "I was very keen on casting Jay Soni for the role. He's a dear friend and I've also seen his transformation. He was pretty chubby earlier and would have made the perfect 'Piyush' on our show. However, Jay already had commitments due to which we couldn't work together." Elaborating on Meherzan he says, "Meherzan has really though done such a fabulous job that its difficult to imagine anyone but him playing this role. Meherzan and I still joke as I keep telling him that if you don't do a good job, I'll bring in Jay. But honestly even Jay after seeing Meherzan told me that I had found the perfect actor to play this character. The hardwork that Meherzan puts in is commendable and its truly an inspiration for me as an acto see Meherzan perform".

The channel has not just made evenings fun-filled but also made the slumberish afternoons rejuvenating too. The channel that once ruled the prime time slots, both evenings and afternoons recently announced their plans of breathing life into their dead afternoon slot, titled Star Plus Dopahar
which comprises of four new shows, Tu Sooraj Main Saanjh Piyaji, Kya Kasoor Hai Amla Ka, Dhhai Kilo Prem and Ek Astha Aise Bhi.
