Star Plus to take down the Star Dopahar segment inclusive of four shows
Dhhai Kilo Prem, Tu Sooraj Main Saanjh Piyaji, Ek Aastha Aisi Bhi and Kya Qusoor Hai Amala Ka to go off air.
Star Plus has a segment called Star Dopahar where a number of shows are telecasted in the afternoon. This section was mainly introduced for viewers who are at home and love watching daily soaps. It included four shows like Dhhai Kilo Prem, Tu Sooraj Main Saanjh Piyaji, Ek Aastha Aisi Bhi and Kya Qusoor Hai Amala Ka. These shows were expected to gain traction and TRP is a good number but failed to do so. The number of views and audiences for the same have not matched up to the desired number.
The channel decided to pull these shows down by the 30th of September. The channel has also sent the notice to the makers of the show to prepare to end the show.
An online portal got in touch with Dhhai Kilo Prem producer Sandiip Sikcand told indianexpress.com, “Yes, Star Dopahar will cease from September 30. It’s the channel’s call and we, as show makers respect their decision. We are now working towards bringing a proper happy end to our storyline.”
He further added, “At the end of the day creativity is also a business and if the shows were not able to get the required numbers it’s only justified that a call is being made. We wanted to say that fat people also have the right to live a normal life, find love and get married. And we did manage to spread the message. It was a good run and we are sure, there’s lot more to be offered next.”
