Actress Veena Malik, who rose to fame with Bigg Boss, has ended her three-year-old marriage with husband Asad Bashir Khan Khattak and is officially divorced now. Reportedly, the actress has been granted the divorce by a family court in Lahore.

According to an agency, the court accepted Veena's divorce application 'khula' after Asad failed to appear in court. The decision was thus ruled in Veena's favour after non-pursuance of the case by Asad. While the divorce was granted last month, Veena has been asked by the court to return 25% of the haq mehr (dower money) to her ex-husband.

"The 33-year-old actress had filed a divorce plea in the Lahore family court in January this year after the couple developed differences and could not live together. The court immediately summoned Asad Khattak, but he neither appeared in front of the judge nor filed a reply. Due to this, the court accepted Veena’s plea and issued a ruling that validated their divorce. The couple kept this development under wraps till now for personal reasons," informed an official from the court to the agency.

For the uninitiated, Veena and Asad married in an intimate wedding ceremony in Dubai three years back in December 2013. After marriage, Veena reportedly wanted to join showbiz again but Asad insisted that she take care of their two children – Abram (2 years old) and Amal (1 year old). This led to their irreconcilable differences and hence they started living separately and then decided to get divorced.
