"It's good to be bad" - Jay Soni
Jay Soni is soon going to be seen on Pankita Sadrani and Arun Sheshkumar's ‘Comedy Superstar’ as an anchor.
Talking about the experience of anchoring ‘Comedy Superstar’, Jay says, "It was superb. The judges are awesome. Sonu Sood is a very down to earth person while working with a diva like Sush (Sushmita Sen) is a dream come true for me. It has been a wonderful journey."
The TV actor has hosted shows like ‘Sa Re Ga Ma Pa L'il Champs’ earlier but hosting a comedy show requires you to be impromptu. "The viewers will see me from the third episode because the decision to rope me in as a host was sudden. I was not at all prepared for it. The Producers called me in the evening and asked me to report on the sets the next day itself. I did not get time to do any homework for anchoring ‘Comedy Superstar’ but when I reached the sets, I was glad to see an optimistic environment. The judges accepted me the way I presented myself and so did the judges. Within no time I got a positive response from the entire unit. The only thing told to us was not to degrade anyone. Anchoring comes naturally to me. People like my comic timing and humour too so there were no challenges as such," comments Jay.
The actor turned host also remarked that he get along with the co-host Sudeepa Singh right from the first day itself and the duo are comfortable with each other. She kept telling Jay that she was very thankful to have a friendly co-star.
Jay also revealed that he used to fumble a lot while hosting. "Coincidentally, the initials of all the judges - Sushmita, Shekhar and Sonu start with 'S'. So much that my co-host Sudeepa's name also starts with 'S'! So, while addressing the judges, I used to get confused and fumble. But that was taken in good spirit as there were days when I did not fumble and the judges would tell me that they missed having a good laugh when I fumbled."
Jay wants to take up a fiction show after this but his on-screen image is of a chocolate boy. "I want to take up something which helps me break out of that image. I want to essay a negative role now, as they say - it's good to be bad!"
