For IAF Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman and the whole of India, these last 48 hours have been crucial. It’s a piece of celebratory news that finally Wing Commander Abhinandan has returned to his homeland India. A Day before yesterday, the whole country woke up to the news of him being captured by the army of Pakistan and a video of him not being treated well created a stir online. It escalated the tensions between Indian and Pakistan and the history of the two nations is not unknown. Twitter was flooded with reactions asking for the safe return of the brave pilot. 

Yesterday, as a peace gesture, the Pakistan Government declared that they will be releasing IAF pilot Abhinandan. Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan, in a statement, said, “As a peace gesture we are releasing Wing Commander Abhinandan tomorrow.” Today, he is back and netizens are celebrating this big occasion. History has been made and this gesture by the Government of Pakistan is highly appreciated. #WelcomeBackAbhinandan has been trending on Twitter ever since the announcement has been made. IAF Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman has returned to India via Wagah Border and he has been welcomed with all the love and pride. In the morning, a video of his parents being applauded by the passengers on a flight they boarded to Delhi went viral. 

Not just common people, Bollywood celebs also hailed Imran Khan’s decision and are happy to see the IAF pilot back.
