Etiquette is all about being in a certain way which is accepted by society. When it comes to the society, there are certain expectations that need to be met. Especially  in the office space, employees are expected to act in a mature and responsible way at the workplace because nobody really likes to talk or hang out with people who don't have a proper etiquette. In office spaces, individuals are not expected to work in the same way that they do at home as there needs to be a distance maintained between one's workspace and home space.

While parties and relax sessions are an important part of both personal and professional life, the behaviour at both needs to vary. In corporates, it is a feature which enables employees to get along together, get to know each other and strengthen the bond among the employees. With Diwali coming up, every office is bound to host a party of some sorts. Here is the basic office etiquette every employee should follow at the Diwali gathering.

Reach on time

While you make it a point to reach on time for work, incorporate the same for the office party. Being late and keeping people waiting annoys people. Try to make it in time or even a little earlier to lend a helping hand to whoever is organising the event.

Dress appropriately

Check if there is a dress code for the party and do your best to stick by it. You don't want to be the oddball dressed in a pantsuit while everybody else is decked up in traditional Indian wear. This can also make it seem like you are not interested and just made it to the party for the heck of it.

Don't waste food

This is a point that shouldn't have to be said. Take as much food as you know you are going to consume so there is no wastage. If there is food left after the party, ensure it is donated to those who need it.

Don't litter

Once you have eaten, keep the plate in its assigned place or dispose of it correctly. You don't want to work with flies the next day. After playing the games, ensure all the stationery, papers, etc. are back in their original places so you don't need to look for them the next day.

Don't call in sick

Once the party is over, you might get home late or be hungover the next day. Do what it takes to get to work rather than calling in sick and putting more work load on the others who bothered to make it the next day without making excuses.
