Deepika Padukone, Priyanka Chopra, Anushka Sharma: Major wedding trends you MUST look out for

Weddings in India are an extensive affair. No matter what the status of our nation’s economy is, weddings are something that never gets affected. It is like an unofficial music festival with a huge chunk of gatherings comprising of close families, friends and relatives. From the decor, to the food, to the setting to the outfits, everything is planned months in advance and to the T. In the past few years many of our high profile Bollywood actresses walked down the aisle giving us major goals.

From Anushka Sharma to Priyanka Chopra Jonas to Deepika Padukone to Sonam Kapoor Ahuja, to name a few, are actresses who got hitched in the past couple of years setting out major trends. Everything keeps evolving, the fashion, styles and so does the wedding trends. Just like everyone else, we too want to be completely updated and in sync with everything that’s in vogue. Taking cues from all the high-profile celebrity, we’ve jotted down the major trends for weddings this season. Check this out!

Shlokas on the chunari

When Deepika Padukone posted her photos from her wedding to Ranveer Singh last year, fans went berserk. The outfit, the love, the decor, all of it was on point. But one breakthrough trend that we noticed were the shlokas or holy words on her chunari. Since the wedding chunari is gifted to the bride from her in-laws, having blessings embroidered on it is a great gesture which is a trend we think is going to be big this season.

Go all red

Starting from Sonam Kapoor to Deepika Padukone to Priyanka Chopra last year, all the actresses opted for a red ensemble for their big day. They all went in for the stark red hue for their big day and given how beautiful Indian complexion is, this call looks stunning on our skin tone.

Extensive sindoor

Dating back to Anushka Sharma and followed ever since, wearing dollops of sindoor seems to be the latest ‘it’ trend. It exudes Indianness and our rich culture and tradition. It also compliments the entire desi look and makes the ‘newly married’ look, look complete.

Mixing modern silhouettes with indian fabrics

Priyanka Chopra kick-started this fashion trend. If you want to bridge the gap between the modern and desi vibe then take a cue from Priyanka Chopra Jonas. We absolutely loved how she opted for a floor length ensemble in brocade with embroidery work on it but in a very modern silhouette. The hairdo, neck-piece everything complimented the look beautifully.

Nath

A fashion trend which was reinvented by celebrated fashion designer, Sabyasachi has become an instant favourite. Anushka Sharma, Deepika Padukone, Priyanka Chopra, Bipasha Basu, all of them were seen wearing one on their big day. It just automatically lifts up your face and makes you look absolutely royal and stunning.

Jadau jewellery

This has definitely become one breakthrough trend. Opt for layers of jewellery especially in kundan just like our celeb divas do. The heavy layered jewellery makes the look look extremely regal and royal and gives out a very ‘dulhan’ vibe.

Velvet sarees

This one has to be one of our most favourite trends. Anushka Sharma literally shook the ground when she wore a red velvet saree on her engagement night. The light smokey eyes, sleek low bun and floral decoration in the hair really made us crush heavily on her look. We think that you should definitely be opting for something like this for one of your wedding rituals.

Roses in the hair

One trend which beautifully brings the old world charm with the new age aura. Roses in the hair bun looks as classy as it can get. Anushka, Deepika, Priyanka, all of them have opted for this hairdo.

Pastel decor

One of the most important parts of a wedding is the decor. It definitely plays a pivotal role in binding and setting the whole mood together. Anushka and Virat Kohli’s wedding was nothing short of a dream. The pastel hues just made the whole backdrop look all the more stunning and magical.

Weddings are a great affair, one that brings all the loved ones together. These wedding trends are sure to make your big day look all the more phenomenal. Which trend was your favourite? Comment below and let us know.
