Being unmarried and single after a certain point can be a hindrance in your life. Not for you but for all the relatives you’ve ever known. Especially the aunties. Old aunties seem to dislike single people and make it their sole aim to get these people married either by looking for rishtas or by pestering them. It’s not very uncommon for anyone above the age of 25 yrs to want to scream at almost every old aunty. “Toh beta, aap Shaadi kab kar rahe ho?”, is the most dreaded question. No one wants to hear how their biological clock is ticking and how they need to get married and have babies before it’s too late. The youth today has different aims and needs in their lives and having a baby isn’t one.

However, it can be very difficult to explain this to these Shaadi and baby obsessed aunties or relatives. It is a task to take your stand and explain your opinion to them. But sometimes it's just really important to take some control back in life and let them know that backing off might be a good idea. Being straight clearly doesn’t help the case so, here are a few things you can tell them to get them off your back.

1. I was planning on getting married until I heard about your marriage. It’s pretty sad….

2. Didn’t you get the invitation?

3. I’ll get married after you have a baby!

4. I’ll die single because you never found me a guy.

5. My parents cannot afford a wedding because they spent it all on my education.

6. I’m waiting for my parent approval on my life partner.

7. I wanted to try live-in first but our parents won’t approve of it. Why don’t you try talking to them?

8. I’ll get married after I learn how to cook.

9. I’m still looking for a man who isn’t a child and doesn’t need someone to cook and clean for him. Do let me know if you come across one.

10. I would’ve but you got married to the man I wanted.

11. I’m waiting for my boyfriend to get divorced.

12. I’m still waiting to get a divorce from my first husband. Didn’t you know about it?
