Step 1
Pour 1 ½ cup milk in a pan and sprinkle 3 tsp powdered gelatin on top in a single layer. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until the grains look dissolved and wet.
Step 2
Put the pan on a medium flame and keep whisking it to dissolve and soften the gelatin. Once the gelatin is dissolved, add ½ cup white sugar to the pan and keep on stirring.
Step 3
In a bowl, mix 1 cup heavy cream, 1 tsp vanilla extract and some salt. Add the milk and gelatin mixture to the bowl.

Step 4
Pour this batter into ramekins and refrigerate for 4-5 hours or overnight to make sure the panna cotta is properly set and can be easily unmoulded the next day.
Step 5
To unmold, carefully run a knife on all the edges of the ramekin. Place the ramekin in a bowl filled with hot water and let it sit for 3 seconds. Place the inverted ramekin on a plate to carefully release the panna cotta from it.
