Brands are now looking for a major change and to recreate and reinforce their identity even stronger with the ever growing competition. The latest brand to face a severe blow is Lanvin. Olivier Lapidus is leaving the French multinational high fashion house. The in-house team will be responsible for the collections to come till a creative director is picked and finalized.
Lapidus is getting back to his own label, Creation Olivier Lapidus. The house released an official statement in which they thanked the designer for “steering the Maison through a transitional period between ownerships.” He had joined the oldest surviving couture house in July last year and had designed two collections, both of which weren't received positively.
Olivier has previously worked with Balmain Homme and had major plans for Lanvin aiming to rebrand the house as the “French Michael Kors”. Alber Elbaz had helmed Lanvin for over 14 years and was widely known for is feminine and extremely glamorous evening wear which was a red carpet hit and very popular amongst in the fashion circles. Post Elbaz’s exit, Bouchra Jarrar was hired who tried to create an androgynous image which failed to impress Lanvin’s customers and just after 4 days Olivier Lapidus was hired.
Let’s see who takes over Lapidus’ reign. We are watching.
