Shoemaker colossus Christian Louboutin who is raved about his perfectly crafted stilettoes has suffered a huge blow in their red sole trademark case. The shoe company is globally recognized for its red sole which was invented after he painted his assistant’s nail varnish on the sole back in 1992.

The brand is currently in court trying to protect the red colour sole of his shoes. The whole controversy started off after Louboutin went to court in the Netherlands in order to prevent VanHaren, a street shoe chain who have been selling their own red-soled shoes. The brand is endorsed by none other than Halle Berry. VanHarren’s argument is that Louboutin’s existing trademark is invalid.

Maciej Szpunar, the advocate general of the European Court of Justice said that “Mr. Louboutin’s red soles were not a separate entity from the shape of his high-heeled shoes, and shapes typically cannot be trademarked under European Union law.”

Louboutin shoes are worn by the most famous celebrities who fangirl over it, they are, Victoria Beckham, Kate Winslet, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Deepika Padukone and many more. A pair of classic black pair can cost you around 500 pounds.
