10 times when Kate Middleton was inspired by late mother-in-law, Princess Diana’s wardrobe

The Royal Family is that one family in the whole wide World whose life has always been under the public radar. Every step they take, everything they do is known to the common public. The obsession that the common man has for them cannot be stated. Late Princess Diana was an inspiration to many. Be it her philanthropy work, her style statement or her affection and warmth towards the common man, Diana was loved crazily by the public. However, after her death, the common man lost all their charm for the Royal Family until Kate Middleton walked in. Prince William and Kate’s wedding was global news with the world hooked onto the television to see this beautiful union. Kate brought back the warmth, the love and even resemblances of Diana to the people and that is why she is loved back so much. Apart from the affection that she showers on people, Kate has repeatedly donned and recreated some of Diana’s most iconic looks. 1. Monochrome Polka

2. Blush in Pastel Pink

Diana in Catherine Walker in April 1985; Kate wearing Emilia Wickstead at Buckingham Palace in 2012. The dresses have an extremely uncanny resemblance. Be it the hue of the colour, the waist belt detail, the hemline or the pleats, the dress and the styling look extremely alike.

3. Happy Engagement Blues

It’s heartwarming to see Kate dress up more or less like Diana on her first proper public appearance, during her engagement announcement. Diana donned her blue outfit in February 1981 and Kate wore hers in November 2010

4. The statement black

This outfit again makes you sit back and jot down the exact similarities starting off with the colour, the sweetheart neckline, the ruffle details and even the jewellery. Diana looked stunning in her black outfit in 1981 when she made her first ever public appearance whereas Kate wore it during the Sun Military Awards in 2011.

5.Baby arrival in Polkas

One major silver lining in Kate’s dressing has been that during every major event in her life she always takes inspiration from Diana’s clothing keeping her essence around her alive. When Kate delivered her first child, Prince George in 2013 she wore a pastel blue, cuff sleeves, polka dot dress; similar to Diana’s when she delivered her first born, Prince William in 1982 in a bottle green colour.

6. Vision in White

Both Her Royal Highness’s wore an extremely similar white gown. The neckline, the sleeves, the fall of the garment, all of it gives out the same vibe. Diana wore her black gown in 1988 whereas Kate wore it for her reception in 2011.

7. White & Gold

The similarity between these two gorgeous ladies goes beyond the hues as even the colour combination used are the same. Diana wore a strapless sweetheart neckline white and gold gown in 1986 by Emanuel's and Kate wore a similar outfit on a tour to Malaysia in 2012.

8. Pastel Trench

Kate surely has a fetish for her late mother-in-law’s style statement and from what we see, both the Royals had a weakness for pastels. Kate was seen wearing a pastel blue trench coat with pearl embellishments by Matthew Williamson in 2014 and Diana wore an exact same outfit back in 1987.

9. Fuschia love

The most important women in William's life sure has an obsession for pink. Diana wore an all pink mid length outfit on her visit to Westminster in 1990 and Kate was spotted in something similar in London in 2015.

10. The Royal Tiara

And this one is straight out of late Princess Diana’s collection. In November 2015, the Duchess of Cambridge sported a tiara owned by Diana. The “lovers knot” tiara was a gift to Diana given by the Queen herself in 1981. Kate has often been spotted wearing the tiara and keeping Diana alive even today.
