Indian skipper, Virat Kohli is seen to break yet another record in the clash against West Indies; becomes the fastest to reach 20,000 International runs.
Winning the toss, the Indian captain elected to bat first at Old Trafford cricket ground, Manchester.
Virat Kohli who is also regarded as the run-machine of Indian cricket registered yet another record in his name in the clash against the Windies. He became the fastest player to reach 20,000 International runs surpassing the cricketing legends like Sachin Tendulkar and Brian Lara. The Indian stalwart took only 416 innings to reach the milestone and is the third Indian cricketer to reach this feat. Prior to the current Indian skipper, Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid are the two Indians who reached the milestone of 20,000 International runs. The Indian cricketer broke Sachin and Lara’s record who took 453 innings to reach register these runs.
The Indian skipper has been exceptionally consistent in the on-going tournament and has registered his fourth consecutive half century against the Windies. He scored a brilliant 67 against Afghanistan and stood robust like a brick in the team’s crumbling batting performance. He registered 77 runs of 65 deliveries against the Men in Green and 82 runs off 77 deliveries against Australia in a high tense match in the tournament.
India has won all the matches played so far in the tournament and is looking forward to continue its winning streak against the Windies. However, the team’s batting is struggling against the West Indian bowlers and the team will rely heavily of the skipper to take the team forward at Old Trafford cricket ground today.
