New Zealand cricket team lost the final against England on the basis of scoring lesser boundaries than the hosts at Lord’s. The New Zealand cricketer admitted that it was a unique situation for them to see the scores level after the super over and still be on the losing side. “To see the scores level and still lose, yeah, that was a pretty unique situation,” said Boult to the reporters at the airport after his return to New Zealand. He also added that he has been living the last over in his mind a lot and said that somehow he got hit for a six along the ground which has never happened before.

However, despite losing the game, the team has received enormous love and respect from the fans around the world. Overwhelmed with the fans support and their heart-warming messages, Boult apologised to the public for letting them down. “We’ve just been on a plane 15 hours and there were a lot of Kiwis saying ‘we felt for you’. I didn’t really know what to say. Obviously, we’re all hurting and we’re sorry for letting everyone down,” said Boult.

Boult further added that he just wants to get home and walk his dog along the beach. He said that he wants to try to forget about the loss, but it is going to be a hard one to swallow for the next couple of years.
