Tamil star Kamal Haasan recently visited a 23-year-old girl Subhasri's family after she lost her life due to hoarding and banners put up in Tamil Nadu. Subhasri died after an illegal banner put up by an AIADMK functionary fell on her while she was driving her way to home. As the accident took place, a lorry ran over the girl. Post the tragic death, actors like Kamal Haasan, Suriya and Vijay have requested fans not to erect huge cut-outs or banners of the films as a part of promotions.

Suriya, at the audio launch of his upcoming film Kaappaan, said, “I have been requesting my fans not to put up cut-outs every time. But, this time, I strongly appeal to my fans to avoid such celebrations. It is not the only way to let me know how much you love me. You have been expressing your admiration through helping school kids and arranging blood donation drives. And please continue doing such helpful activities for the public."

Kamal Haasan, during Bigg Boss Tamil 3 weekend episodes urged his fans to realize their responsibility and stop putting up banners to avoid such tragedies.

Haasan also spoke about the time when he banned his fans from erecting cut-outs. He said, "About 30 years ago, one of my fans died after he fell from a 30-feet cut-out. After that, I went to meet his mother. She showed me pictures of her son and told me that he was my biggest fan. I didn’t know what to tell her at the moment. Following the incident, I asked my fans to never indulge in such activities."
