South Africa team, who has won just one match so far in the entire tournament, is out of the race for the semis and ranks second last in the points table. JP Duminy, who has been missing from the squad, says that he is ashamed of the team’s performance.

The Proteas’ all-rounder admitted that it had been a pretty dismissal from their part and says that he wants to apologise to the fans. “We obviously want to apologise to the public and the South African fans for letting them down,” he said.

Duminy added that it’s a proud moment when you represent your country; you understand that you are representing 50-60 million people, but performances like these in a way almost makes you feel ashamed of it.

He also mentioned that it is important for the players to take responsibility for their performances and to be man enough to know that you have come up short. He said that it is the players and not the coaches who should be taking the responsibility. He added that they have given us the support and all the backing that we need to go up there and put in big performances, but the players are the ones that have come short.

South Africa will play their next match against Sri Lanka, today at Riverside Ground at 3 PM IST.
