Sri Lanka vs South Africa, ICC Cricket World Cup 2019: Match prediction
Sri Lanka have an inconsistent batting attack that will face a stiff tests against South Africa's experienced bowlers
The South African side have been dismal in their World Cup 2019 campaign thus far and have officially been ruled out of he semi-final race. Their batting, despite them having experienced stars, has failed to click together, while their pacers have been below-par and have not made good use of the conditions. Sri Lanka, on the other hand, were never expected to fare well in the World Cup 2019 due to the lack of depth in their squad, but have managed to hold onto their own with three wins from their last five games. They recently beat England, and will be high on confidence. They are mathematically not yet ruled out of the event, and will be eager for a win here.
However, when the two sides are compared on paper, it is the Proteas who seem to be more skilled and have big players. Cricketers like Quinton de Kock, Rassie van der Dussen, Faf du Plessis and Imran Tahir along with Lungi Ngidi have been pitching in and if at least three cricketers have a good day on Friday, they will take the game away from the Lankans. The Asian team have blown hot and cold in the edition thus far, but have a well-balanced bowling attack.
However, their batting is prone to failure, and considering the experience of the South African bowlers, it is the Faf du Plessis-led team who are the favourites.
