Former Pakistani cricketer, Shoaib Akhtar slammed Pakistan’s Babar Azam and said that if he considers Virat Kohli as his idol then he must also learn to play like him. In a video posted on his YouTube channel, Akhtar praised the Indian skipper and said that Virat has scored runs in extremely difficult situations. Babar should take singles and improvise like Virat on the field.

Pakistan’s Babar Azam has scored decent runs for his team throughout the tournament. However, he has failed to execute his innings in a match winning performance. Against South Africa, Babar smashed a solid 69 runs off 80 deliveries before losing his wicket to Andile Phehlukwayo.

Akhtar also added that when when you look at players like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and Kane Williamson, all these guys accelerate their scores after reaching fifty. He feels that Babar should learn from Virat and should have more range of shots.

Akhtar who praised Haris Sohail’s  89 runs innings of 59 deliveries believes that he looked better than Babar. “I was constantly saying that Haris Sohail should be included in the playing 11 because he is a very compact player. Against South Africa, he showed how to score runs. In fact he looked better than Babar Azam.”

He also added that Haris provided the thrust and helped Pakistan get a total beyond 300. He believes that Haris was a great addition to the squad and Shoaib Malik being dropped off from the team was a fair call.

Pakistan will play its next game against the Black Caps on Wednesday, June 26 at Edgbaston cricket ground.
