Sarfaraz Ahmed who was trolled brutally after the loss against the Men in Blue says that the win against the Proteas is not an answer to the critics. The Skipper was asked several questions by both fans and experts regarding his captaincy and fitness in the tournament. In an interview released to the Pakistani media by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Sarfaraz said that they are here to play cricket like any other side and to believe that they can win the World Cup.

He also added that the team followed the mantra of we lose as a team and we win as a team. He said that the win against South Africa was a result of a complete team effort and the team badly needed a positive result post the loss against India. The loss was followed by severe criticism, some were justified whereas, some unjustified.

Sarfaraz revealed that the team talked through their mistakes and expressed determination to not repeat them. The Skipper also appreciated the outstanding innings of Haris Sohail who smashed a brilliant 89 runs off 59 deliveries and said that no praise would be enough for his innings. Despite being his second match in the tournament, he made a difference in a tight situation in the game.

“He batted like Jos Buttler of England. He looked hungry and his body language was very positive right from the start of his innings.” The Skipper added.

The Men in Green will next encounter the Black Caps on Wednesday, 26th June at Edgbaston cricket ground.
