Pakistan’s Head Coach Mickey Arthur wanted to commit suicide post the loss against India in ICC World Cup 2019
Pakistan cricket team were trolled and questioned brutally by the people after their humiliating 89 runs loss against the Men in Blue on June 16 at Manchester.
After their loss against the Men in Blue, the Pakistan team made a robust comeback in the tournament by defeating the Proteas by 49 runs at Lord’s cricket ground. The team was brutally questioned by the fans and the experts. The team's head coach Mickey Arthur admitted that it was a low time for them as a team.
The Men in Green, who currently rank seventh in the points table, kept their hopes alive of qualifying to the semis post their win against the Proteas. However, the loss against India had a great impact on them.
Arthur admitted that last Sunday he wanted to commit suicide post the loss. He also added that it was only one performance and it happens really quickly. “You lose a game, you lose another game, it’s a World Cup. Media scrutiny, public expectations and then you almost go into a survival mode. We’ve all been there,” Arthur added.
Even though Mickey’s words have been said in an emotional and passionate state, the fans felt that his words are in a bad taste. This is because the former Pakistan coach, Bob Woolmer died of a natural cause during the 2007 World Cup.
Arthur added that they always keep telling their players that it’s just one performance. He said, “Who is going to stimulate us today?”
Pakistan will play its next game against New Zealand tomorrow, i.e. June 26 at Edgbaston cricket ground at 3 PM IST. It will be crucial for the Men in the Green to win all the matches in order to keep alive the hope of semi-finals in the tournament.
