Even though the former Indian skipper, smashed boundaries and contributed to the team’s overall score in the latter half of his innings, VVS Laxman feels that MS Dhoni will regret the way he started off his innings. Dhoni who managed to smash the West Indian bowler, Oshane Thomas for 16 runs in the last over of the innings was questioned on his approach in the beginning of his innings.

VVS Laxman told Star Sports that Dhoni’s strike rate at the start of the innings which was close to 40-50 put pressure on the team and his partner. “It's all good if you can finish off the innings in style but at the start if he can show that positive intent especially against a spinner like Fabian Allen who is not going to give you room neither bowl short.” He added.

Laxman also stated that the former Indian skipper will regret the start of his innings some day and it is an area he needs to address. Even in the last match against Afghanistan, it was difficult for him to rotate strike. Laxman added that it’s all good when the fast bowlers are bowling and he didn’t show any positive intent at the start unlike Hardik Pandya.

However, it is not the first time that MS Dhoni is criticised for his slow batting by legendary Indian cricketers in the tournament. Earlier this week, Sachin Tendulkar also criticised the Indian cricketer for his lack of positive intent in the match against Afghanistan.
