‘Mahi bhai suggested to bowl a yorker’, Mohammed Shami after bowling a hat-trick in World Cup 2019
Mohammed Shami who became the second Indian bowler to bowl a hat-trick in World Cup credits MS Dhoni for his suggestion to bowl a yorker.
Mohammed Shami bowled an exceptional spell in the match against Afganistan on 22nd June and became the second Indian bowler after Chetan Sharma to bowl a hat-trick in the World Cup tournament. This Indian bowler, who picked up 4 crucial wickets for the team and gave away just 40 runs in his 9.5 over spell, credits the former Indian skipper for his advice to bowl a Yorker.
Mohammed Shamir told the reporters that the plan was simple, to bowl a Yorker and even Mahi bhai suggested that. Shami revealed that MS Dhoni asked the Indian bowler to not change anything as of now as he has a great chance of getting a hat-trick and it is a rare opportunity.
Shami also added that getting a chance to play in the playing 11 was a bit of luck and he was sure that whenever he will get a chance, he will utilize it. He added that as far as hat-trick is concerned, it is a rarity at least in a World Cup and he is extremely happy with his performance.
He also added that in the final over of the game, there was not much time to think. You have to back your own skills as you don’t have many options otherwise. He revealed that he thought of just executing his plan instead of reading the batsman’s mind.
Mohammed Nabi’s half century almost took the match away from the Men in Blue. The bowler also added that even though Nabi’s flow was irritating, it is better that you don’t show your concern or irritation that the batsman would have gauged.
