Kuldeep Yadav & Yuzvendra Chahal’s bad day can cause trouble for India; says Monty Panesar
Former English spinner, Monty Panesar believes that it is essential for at least one of the two Indian spinners to perform well.
Virat Kohli led Men in Blue were defeated by the hosts by 31 runs at Edgbaston cricket ground after both their batting and bowling failed against the English cricketers. The team were unable to restrict the English batsmen to a low total and got their first breakthrough post the century and half century of their openers.
Former English spinner, Monty Panesar, in an interview with PTI said that India’s wrist spin duo, Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal may have a bad day in the tournament which will cause concern for the Men in Blue. "I guess, they are going to have a bad day at some point in time. It shows when both don't bowl well in tandem then India can't go the distance," he added.
He also mentioned that it is essential for at least one of the two spinners to perform in order for the Indian cricket team to do well. He said that it’s great if both do well but today was a great example when England batsmen got on top of them from the start of the innings.
Monty also praised the English batsmen and said that Bairstow and Roy were fearless with their batting. “They took nice big strides, had strong base and anything flighted, they just went at it. They weren't scared of the flight and took the aerial route," Monty added.
India will next encounter Bangladesh tomorrow at Edgbaston cricket ground whilst the host will face the Black Caps on Wednesday, 3rd July at Riverside Ground.
