India vs Pakistan: Shoaib Akhtar defends Sania Mirza after she is blamed for Pakistan's poor show
Sania Mirza was blamed for Pakistan's loss to India in the CWC 2019
Pakistan lost their seventh consecutive game to India in a World Cup game when they went down by 89 runs (DLS Method) on Sunday in the ongoing Cricket World Cup 2019. The fans of the nation usually leave no stone unturned to criticize the fitness levels and committment of their players, and sometimes even bring their families in between and blame them for the poor showing of the team.
The Pakistani fans were at it again as they ripped Indian star Sania Mirza, who was seen with her husband Shoaib Malik and his teammates a few days before the big clash at a sheesha bar. Some even accused her of distracting the Pakistanis so she could help her country, India, triumph.
However, former pacer Shoaib Akhtar has been scathing in his remarks on this issue, and has come down heavily on the fans who have blamed the tennis player for Pakistan's loss.
Posting a video on his Youtube channe, Akhtar called Mirza a "badkismat khatoon" (unlucky woman), who has been made the scapegoat just because Pakistan lost the game.
“If Shoaib Malik hasn’t performed, drop him. But why bring Sania into this,” Akhtar further commented.
In an earlier video, Akhtar had attacked Pakistan skipper Sarfaraz Ahmed for being "mota" (fat), and for having a "tond" (belly) in an age when cricketers are focused and very strict about their fitness levels.
Here is the viodeo he posted.
